Toilet Tower Defense Beginner Guide: Smarter Starts

Early Game: Prepare Before Starting a Match

Your opening placement matters long before you summon a Titan. This Toilet Tower Defense beginner guide helps you survive early waves, spend coins carefully, and give every unit in your loadout a purpose. Learn those habits early, and you can spend more time clearing maps instead of rebuilding after avoidable losses.

The November updates changed how you should evaluate your collection:

  • The November 6 REBALANCE update rebalanced all units, so compare their current stats before following older damage rankings.
  • The rebalance removed old crates from the shop.
  • The November 7 QoL update moved the troops manage button to the left side during matches and added PC keybinds for upgrading and selling selected troops.

1. Equip Your Units Before Entering

Check your loadout before stepping onto a match platform. Bring an affordable opening attacker alongside your stronger damage and support units. A powerful unit does little for your opening defense if you cannot afford to place it.

Start with an easier difficulty while learning placement and upgrade costs. Clear waves consistently before moving into harder matches or testing how long your squad can survive in Endless Mode.

2. Use the Original Maps as a Learning Route

For the original map progression, work through Toilet City, Desert, Cameraman HQ, and Toilet HQ. Use that order to practice, rather than rushing straight to the hardest destination.

Repeat a map when you can finish it comfortably. During those runs, pay attention to where enemies escape your attack coverage and which upgrade helps your opening unit keep pace.

3. Bring an Affordable Opening Attacker

Ninja Cameraman fills the early attacker role described in older beginner builds. After the rebalance, inspect its current placement cost and upgrades before committing your opening money.

Apply the same check to any replacement: can you place it early, and can you afford the upgrades needed to keep enemies under control? Choose around those requirements instead of filling your loadout with expensive units.

4. Mix Single-Target and Area Damage

Single-target attacks concentrate damage on one enemy. Area-of-effect attacks, usually shortened to AoE, damage multiple enemies within their attack area.

Build around both jobs:

  • Use a single-target damage unit to focus tough enemies.
  • Add an AoE attacker to handle groups.
  • Keep an affordable starter for the opening waves.
  • Include stun removal when preparing for enemies that disable your troops.

Laser Cameraman Car is a single-target example, while Speaker Helicopter provides an early AoE option. Compare their current performance with the units you already own before replacing anything.

5. Give Support Units a Specific Purpose

Medic Cameraman removes stuns from your troops. Scientist Cameraman generates additional match money, and Large Scientist Cameraman heals your base.

Choose support around the problem you need to solve. If stunned attackers are letting enemies through, bring stun removal. If you use Scientist Cameraman, establish enough damage to survive before spending heavily on income.

In a group, coordinate these roles before starting. Have one teammate handle a support job while others cover the damage needed to protect the team.

6. Cover More Track With Each Attack Radius

Select a unit and inspect its range circle before placing it. Look for bends, central spaces, and positions that cover multiple stretches of the route.

Avoid placing your main attackers beside the entrance automatically. If much of the range circle extends beyond the track, enemies spend less of their journey inside that unit’s reach.

For example, place an attacker near a bend where enemies stay in range as they approach and turn. Judge the position by its usable track coverage.

7. Compare an Upgrade With Another Placement

Before placing a duplicate, inspect the upgrade available on your existing attacker. Compare the added damage and cost with what another base-level unit would contribute.

Prioritize upgrading a well-positioned attacker when that purchase gives your defense more useful damage. Place another unit when you need coverage elsewhere or a different attack role.

After a full rebalance, avoid assuming that upgrading is automatically the better purchase for every unit.

8. Support Your Main Attackers

Bring Medic Cameraman to remove stuns from the attackers you depend on.

Protect the part of your setup doing the most work. Concentrating your strongest attackers around useful track coverage also makes it easier to plan support placement.

Wave Control: Avoid Preventable Leaks

9. Leave Auto Skip Off While Learning

Auto Skip speeds up play, but overlapping enemies can overwhelm a defense that is still catching up.

Keep it off while learning a map or testing a new loadout. Use the space between waves to inspect upgrades and identify weak coverage. Enable faster wave progression only when your defense is handling the pace comfortably.

10. Change Targeting With a Purpose

Selected units offer First, Last, Strongest, and Weakest targeting options.

Use First when you need to focus enemies advancing toward your base. Consider Strongest for a dedicated single-target attacker when a tough enemy needs attention. Switch to Weakest when finishing low-health enemies would relieve pressure.

Watch the result after changing modes. Choose targeting around what is threatening your run, rather than setting every attacker to the same option automatically.

11. Reposition Before an Enemy Escapes

Selling and replacing a unit farther down the track can give it another opportunity to attack enemies that have passed its original position.

Use this as an emergency response when your front defense can no longer reach the threat. Watch the remaining track and your available money before committing to the move.

In team matches, remember that enemies become stronger with more players. Coordinate placements and upgrades instead of assuming extra teammates guarantee an easier clear.

Resources: Earn Coins and Summon Carefully

12. Separate Summoning Coins From Match Spending

Use lobby coins to summon additional units. During a match, manage the money available for placing and upgrading your equipped troops.

When your collection is limited, alternate between earning coins and improving your loadout. When your collection already covers the necessary roles, practice using those units before chasing another rare summon.

At the summon machine, compare the displayed single-summon and bundle prices before spending. Check the available units and odds so you are spending toward something your squad needs.

13. Repeat Clears You Can Finish Reliably

Replay manageable maps to earn coins through active play. Use the AFK Area when you want the game’s passive earning option.

For active farming, compare how long a run takes with the coins it awards. Favor repeatable clears over repeatedly entering a difficulty your current team cannot finish.

Playing with a friend also provides a coin boost. Coordinate your loadouts so the stronger multiplayer enemies do not wipe out the benefit of playing together.

14. Time Boosts Around Their Purpose

Use a luck boost when you are ready to summon. Use a coin boost when you are ready to earn coins.

Prepare before activating either one: inspect the summon selection or choose the matches you intend to run. That keeps your boosted play focused on the reward you want.

Codes: Claim REBALANCE

15. Redeem the Update Code

REBALANCE awards a 2x Luck Boost. Enter it exactly as written because codes are case-sensitive.

To redeem it:

  1. Click the Codes button at the top-right of the screen.
  2. Enter REBALANCE in the Enter code... box.
  3. Click Redeem.

Save the boost for a summoning session where the available units fit your loadout.

Robux: Match Purchases to Your Goal

16. Read Each Game Pass Restriction

Compare the effect with the activity you actually play before spending Robux.
